Jared and Avril Empty Jared and Avril

    Post by Shake_Zulla

Hey wasap, I thought I would do one of these intro things even though you all know me. Names Jared and I live in Boise Idaho and I like the 420a's. Why you ask? Well I know a ton about them... some would say a shit ton even. I don't know "everything" about them, however, when I decided to get into autocross I wanted to stick with a car that I would know how to modify it without having to go back to the drawing board. I know what I want to do, how to do it (hell I have probably already done it) and how much it's going to cost. No surprises here. I like the MAP, I like MS, I like having my timing belt on the passenger side, so that's why I'm going this route. I know it's more money but I'm alright with that. So here is the plan... highly modified, barley street legal, < 400hp, 2.4l EDZ track monster. It will be a couple years in the making (because I want to compete between classes) but I should be there soon. Once I get it dialed in my wife wants to play on the course too so I'm looking at either a 350z, Mazda (Miata or 3 series), or a 1 gen DSM. I will make a build thread for those looking to learn about the red-headed-step-child 420a dsm...

Yeah man and I would throw that engine and drive train on in a second if it fit! Glad you got a new ride, did you sell your GS?

His uncle wrecked his Eclipse. So it went to the junkyard I believe. Wasn't his uncles fault. Ryan and I always wanted to weld a 420A front end onto a GSX rear and put an Evo 8 or 9 engine in it. It's surprisingly not hard.

I will think about moving to Boise, Jared....

There is a EVO 8 swap out there for the gs i believe you only really have to customize the clutch brackets, motor mounts and a few other things that i cant remember right now. Yeah my Eclipse did get totaled unfortunately it got t-boned and the driver side was pretty banged up. I also believe it twisted the frame. I love the Evo but in all honesty i miss my Eclipse but i love the Evo a little more (Boost is addicting) XD

Axles, wiring, ECU, etc. Much easier than you would think at first thought though!
