    Jared's ascention to autox history

    Post by Shake_Zulla

First of all... I REALLY like that title. Self serving? Yeah probably but whacha gonna do? OK... here we go...

    Cars name: Avril
    Goal: Autocross
    Platform: 2g n/t 420a

    Lets start from the beginning...
I was in the market for a autocross car when I saw an add on Craigs for a 96 RS that didn't run. I saw it and decided to roll the dice after all the body looked decent and the freaking expensive 2g doors are in perfect condition. I got it for cheap... and I mean cheap so i tow it home and take a look...

    Looks decent...

OOPS... now how did I miss that? Of well I will fix it later... Lets see why this isn't runnin...

Well there's your problem right there! No intake manifold. Lucky for me I found it in the back seat. Throw that on and... nothing. Hu? Ohh the starters unplugged and guess what... starts right up. After a new slave cylinder and front engine mounting bolt (about $40 bucks) I have a running car, lucky me... Now about that dent...

Pulled and fixed about 4 hours later. I will wait for the topper filler when I ready to paint in the spring...
I hate 2ga bumpers, I want a splitter, I could use a stiffer surface that I can fiberglass to... I know fiberglass bumper...

Aright... fitted and good to go lets strip the front and prep for paint...

Stay tuned as I fit the rear bumper and prep the rest for paint...

    96 RS (Really Slow)

Lol same here, Im eager to hear more. And just a question because I have an addiction to driving. Can you race AutoX with a suspended license? I really need to find a reason to drive.

Thats a good question. I started racing a full size dirt race car at age 13. So three whole years before i got my license. But now dirt racing is much different than auto x. Definitely a little more dangerous due to the high speeds. But, same principle. Competition motor sports, so i would think you would be able to.
