hey guys. In the past year I have put a lot of money into my 420a. forged internals, stage 2 clutch, short throw, headers back exhaust... anyway im getting it ready to turbo. I'm a mechanic here in Maine and I feel kind of foolish for not finding my starting issue. I have just rebuilt my head. the engine ran when i took the head off but now nothing. I have multiple replacements of every sensor on the car and have tried them all, the only thing I havent done is changed out the ecu or the ASD relay. the timing is dead on, I've looked that over about 100 times now. I'm getting pulse to the injectors and I'm getting spark. It turns and turns over with absolutely no sign of life, it's very depressing that i cant nail this problem and more depressing that my dsm is down... Have any ideas guys ? if this motor craps out i have a twin turbo VG30E out of my wrecked maxima i was thinking about fabbing up into the talon lol....

Get ahold of our Vendor, Miller Import Parts, at millerimportparts.com . Their information is also on the main forum page. 95% of their cars are DSM's and have just about anything. Call them, email them, whatever. Tell them you are from Eat Sleep DSM.

Re: 420a no start...
turns out my timing was 180* off on my exhaust cam. I have factory service manuals and also have an account on autozone.com where you can view all repair manuals etc. Anyway funny thing is all the manuals for the timing shows both dowel pins on the cam gears facing 12 oclock to be correct. WELLL little did I know this was way incorrect. I put my exhaust dowel on 12 o clock and my intake on 6 o clock with my number 1 piston TDC. threw the timing belt on and VROOOOM!! dead on I've done the timing so much now it only takes me about 10 minutes to remove the belt, reset the timing and put it all back together.lol.. hopefully i wont need to do this again for a long time!!

Good stuff man!
Once you get the timing belt down, you have accomplished a lot and can do so much more work to your car.
After I learned, everything else was a breeze and other repairs involving the removal of the timing belt could easily be done.

Re: 420a no start...
i hope i aint got to remove it for a while. ive got wiseco and eagle internals and really hope i've got the compression down enough si i can get my turbo on soon. but i think i'm going to run it for a while without the turbo to see how things go... also today it started smoking quite badly, like a lot of white smoke. this worried me but i knew it had to be something small. turns out my pcv valve is broken so i was sucking a lot of oil through it and burning it. i unhooked it and no smoke.. thank god..
