Interested in road racing Empty Interested in road racing

    Post by AJracer33a Tue Feb 21, 2012 12:04 am

Recently, i have been thinking about road racing a dsm. I have been doing a lot of searching on road racing, watching videos, talking to dsmers that road race, etc.

I have to say, i am very interested in this. Why build a car to go straight for a few seconds? Auto x has been lingering around in my head for a couple years. Something about going slow and solo around some cones in a parking lot doesnt sound fun to me.

So, along came the thought of road racing. There are many tracks in the northeast region. Many classes, high speeds, racing with cars around you, 110% driver skill. Now that is right up my alley!

Once i get a dsm, i will attend what is called "open track day". Basically if you have a car that is safe, doesnt leak oil, has properly working brakes, and tread on your tires, you can test at the track.

After some time passes, ive decided i want to build an all out road racing dsm. I know everything there is about setting up a race car. Raced dirt modifieds all my life. I love tinkering with suspension setups.

    Anyway, just wanted to share!

Yeah man but don't count out autox till you try it. In fact a lot of skills can be fine tuned on a tighter course. It's not surprising that the guy who one that GT academy was a big autoxer.

And thats the beauty of it. If i build a road racing dsm, it will be great for auto x as well. Auto x definitely requires you to be a good driver. The auto x track at the shootout was very nice and looked like a mini road coarse.

Gonna have to get that bitch running right first though. And I deffinately want some power steering for that and good tires and some upgraded suspension. Im sure I will have some time to prepare.

Theres a lot that goes into it. I have been watching videos, reading up on how people set up their dsm for a road coarse, what mods you wanna do, a lot. Search up videos on youtube. Also search up "road race engineering". They road race and use primarly dsms. Even make dsm parts.
