I bought this car during the summer of 2012 looking for a sporty daily driver. To my disappointment, the stock 2.4 N/A engine was a boat anchor making 141 crank hp and 155tq (probably less than that even). I did little things like a K2Motors Hard Pipe Intake, DNA 2.25" Catback, and a stainless header and downpipe for an N/A 1G. It was a little quicker, but hardly noticeable unfortunately. I started doing some research to see what else i could do to make more power when i came across Curt's 2.4 Turbo tutorial page. I started buying supporting mods to build my way up to a turbo swap, starting with a Walbro 190 fuel pump (oem had 169k on it) & some SFI 660cc high z injectors (these ended up sticking, sold them to someone for $50). Saved up some cash, bought a 16g ebay turbo, which later took a dump, to be replaced with an MHI small 16g, a stainless manifold, and a cxracing fmic. I drove around with the fmic installed and plumbed with a filter on the end. A week later the car went up on jack stands, the turbo and manifold were installed. There were things here and there that had to be changed like the oil feed and return. SFI660s went in, 4g63 throttle body and ecu went in and the ecu was rewired for the different fuel pump and module setup. Megan 3" downpipe installed, ran open downpipe for a month with a glasspack on the end, 3" godsnow catback installed later. First bov (ebay type r knockoff) leaked bad, replaced with an EM-USA Type RS knockoff (holds and works fine). Everything was done and the car was running, at first two of the vacuum lines were swapped and the car wouldn't take boost, easy fix. This thing sounded like an animal and pulled very good (at the time) with open downpipe. The #2 injector stuck, flooding the cylinder with gas and eventually destroyed the rings on the piston. I rebuilt the motor with oem NPR Rings for an awesome price and the car was up and running making 190psi of compression in each cylinder. I went back to the stock injectors for awhile (staying out of boost) until i bought some FIC 775cc High Z's, went down to Beyond Redline Performance to get the car professionally tuned. Keep in mind this is a stock block 4g64 with 9.5:1 compression, we pushed the boost to 19psi and with 92 octane, made 312hp/312tp starting at 3500rpm (through an auto). The stock F4A23 automatic trans let go, i'm rebuilding it with Kiggly 5 Plate front clutches, IPT end clutches, and a 9 pass AT Cooler.
