Most do not know this, but the 1994 Mitsubishi Galant GS came with a 4G64 DOHC engine. 1994 is the only year with a 4G64 DOHC engine. All the other years have a 4G64 but are SOHC.

The 2G Eclipse Spyder NA's came with a 4G64 SOHC as well. The only car that came with the 4G64 DOHC engine is the 1994 Galant. Extremely rare.

The few people blessed to have one, know they are rare. Some want to turbo it. This write up will show what is needed and give some good info on the engine. Information was retrieved from this site.

The 4G64 DOHC has a slightly larger bore (3.4055"(86.5mm)) than the 4G63 (3.347" (85.0mm)). The 4G64 also has a longer stroke at 3.94"(100mm) while the 4G63 is 3.46" (88mm). The 4G64 does, however, share the same rods with the 2G DSM 4G63T. This makes the deck height 6mm higher on a 4G64 to compensate for the longer stroke. A deeper stroke means there is less balance at higher RPM's. The 4G63 has a close ratio between bore and stroke which allows the 4G63 have higher RPM's without damage BUT the 4G64 will produce slightly more torque than the 4G63 at the same RPM.

The two engines are nearly identical other than what is mentioned above which allows most parts to be interchanged between the two. This will allow the 4G64 guys to have upgrades and performance parts that they can put on their 4G64.

So, you want to turbo your 4G64 do ya? Here is a list of what you WILL need.

-4G63T Exhaust Manifold (Ported 2g Preferred)
    -4G63T O2 Sensor Housing (Ported 2g Preferred)
    -4G63T Downpipe - 2G FWD (aftermarket or custom 2.5" - 3" preferred)
-Turbo- 14b, Small 16G, or other.
-High-Flow air filter & MAS Adaptor
-Intake Pipe from MAS to Turbo
    -Intercooler - Stock 2G SMIC
-Intercooler Piping from turbo to intercooler & intercooler to throttle body (custom connector needed for stock throttle body connection).
-Blow off valve (BOV) - 1G is fine
    -Boost Gauge
    -EGT Gauge
    -Gauge Mounting
    -Gasket: Head to Exhaust Manifold
    -Gasket: Turbo to Exhaust Manifold
    -Gasket: O2 Housing to Turbo
    -Gasket: O2 Housing to downpipe
-Spark Plugs: NGK BKR7E (NGK's part number 4644) <-these are 2 heat ranges cooler
-Misc Nuts, Bolts, Washers, hose clamps, etc.
-Turbo oil Supply Line (Stainless braided preferred)
-Turbo oil return Line from a stock 2G setup
-2G turbo oil pan (or somehow mount the turbo oil return on your stock oil pan)
-Turbo water lines (feed & return) + rubber coolant hose to connect to engine.
-Higher flow Fuel Pump (Walbro 190lph is plenty)
-Bigger Injectors (Stock 4G63T 450cc Injectors OK with turbo car resistor pack wired in)
    -Apex-i S-AFC
    -OBD-II Datalogger

The above parts should cost you between $1700 - $3000.
It all depends on the options you choose, used or new parts, etc...

List of parts you probably SHOULD have...

-2.5"-3" Hi-Flow Cat or Test Pipe
    -2.5"-3" Cat-Back exhaust System
-Heat shields for the Exhaust Manifold & O2 Sensor Housing
-Turbo with a 34mm Wastegate flapper modification (needed to help prevent boost creep with larger exhaust)
-Ported or tubular O2 Sensor housing (needed to help prevent boost creep with larger exhaust)
-2G Turbo ECU (for knock sensor support, better fuel maps, and better timing maps)
-Oil Pressure & Coolant Temperature Gauge
-Heavy duty Clutch (ACT, Centerforce, Clutch Masters, etc)
    -Quaife Limited Slip Differential

This write up will also benefit the 2G Eclipse Spyder NA. Though there are other parts you would need. For example, a 4G63 head.
