Eat Sleep DSM Magazine
Why we want to make a DSM magazine:
Who doesn't want to see a DSM magazine? DSM's are very overlooked in the car scene. You buy Import Tuner, Project Car, or Modified magazines, what cars do you see? Honda's, Nissan's, basically anything but DSM's. In the last year and a half, there have finally been a handful of DSM's in these magazines. Why now? About 2 years ago, a lot of people were bitching on DSMtuners.com about never seeing any DSM's in magazines. These voices were so damn loud that they were heard by these large magazine companies. This would be a perfect time for a DSM Magazine.
Why do we think a DSM Magazine will sell:
A few people have been wanting to make a DSM Magazine. But it's scary and is quite a risk. Why? Because everyone drives a Honda these days. The DSM scene isn't very popular. There are a crap load more Honda's that were produced than there were DSM's. DSM's are from 1990-1999. So we hae 9 years worth of cars vs. 20+ years of other vehicles like Honda's. But heres the difference. Say you see 3 Honda's driving around today. One riced out that looks like it has some form of performance mods. One driven by a 67 year old man. Another driven by a hot ass 21 year old chick. Now say in this same day you seen 3 DSM's driving around in town. One 1G driven by a 21 year old guy. Another 1G driven by a 33 year old guy. And a 2G driven by a 40 year old guy. If you own a 4G63T DSM, your a car guy. Your a DSM enthusiast. You don't see grandpa driving around town on his way to the grocery store with his boosted DSM or a hot ass 21 year old chick on her way to school driving on her way to school. No. The only people you see driving a boosted DSM is a car guy/girl. Yea, there are more Honda's than DSM's. But there are just as many car enthusiasts that drive DSM's than there are car enthusiasts that drive a modded Honda.
What cars are we wanting to touch on:
Obviously 1990-1999 DSM's is the big one. I am thinking 60% DSM's, 20-25% EVO's, and the rest will be post 2G Eclipses, 3KGT's, regular Lancers, and other misc. Mitsubishi's. I would also like to touch on Galant VR4's quite a bit. Probably mix them in with the DSM's.
What are we going to write about:
Every issue, I want to feature a DSM. Have a project log type thing. Then have a section that shows updates on the previous featured DSM's. We will have at least 1 tech article per issue. But, not just a tech article. Say Motorsports Engineering sends us a tubular header to install. We do a write up on how to install it. But, whos manifold is it? What kind of quality? So we will also touch on the products and who made them. Then we will do a product review. Before an after dyno results/road coarse testing. This is always a fun read. This is just a few ideas we have planned to be in the magazine. We definitely don't want to be another magazine that has fancy show cars that have $20K of work done. A daily driven DSM with 450awhp would be something we would like to write about. Of course we want to write about those 800+HP DSM race cars as well. We also plan to promote the shit out of vendors and shops. Especially the smaller ones. We want to help the community as best as we can and is the #1 reason we want to make a magazine. We want to push the DSM industry forward. Attract new people and keep the shops in business.
First step:
We are going to put a demo issue together via photoshop of each page. This will give us something to present to vendors, shops, etc. to get the funds to publish the magazine. We have a lot of homework to do and need to talk to the right people. People with business and marketing experience, people with shops, etc.
