    State Laws Empty State Laws

    Post by AJracer33a Tue Apr 24, 2012 10:13 am

Hey all. I want to make a write up about what is legal/illegal per state. Things like window tint, rear tail light tint, license plate covers, etc. Anything visual that a police officer could pull you over and harass you about and tell you it needs to be removed.

So if you have experience with any of this, or know anything about it, reply below.

I know for tint in north dakota is 50% on the drivers and pass. But you can tint the rest as much as you want. For suspension its 4 inches for vehicles 7,000 lbs or less. You can black out your taillights as long as they are still visible from 200 ft.

    Great info.

In PA, i know the following....

Cannot have any covers for your license plate, from what i heard, not even a clear one.

Window tint on the rear windshield and side quarter windows must allow 70% of light to pass through, and no tint on the front windshield or front windows.

I know more, but i forget what else i know. So i guess, thats all i know? Lol.

Thats wierd you can only have tint on the back windows if it 70% light. I know here you can tint your front windshield if you have a prescription for it.

Dude they dont let us get away with shit in PA. I dont know of any written laws. But basically if a cop wants to be a dick, he'll be a dick. My Eclipse was black paint, black rims, black windows, black tail lights, I never got fines for it but it did attract alot of unwanted attention from the police. Mostly just an inconvenience, like getting pulled over for running a stop sign that I was stopped at for a minute and half for example.

Exhaust had to exit behind passenger compartment.

    Nothing hanging from rearview mirror.

    Cannot tint tail lights.

    Cant tint headlights.

Cant have more than 15% tint on rear windows and none on windshield.

    No covers on plates.

    Must have bumper reinforcement.

No noise pollution. (loud exhausts or radios)

    No fluids leaking from vehicles.

But like I said, it depends on the mood the cop is in.

Ya i know what you mean by the mood of the cops. In my town i get along with most of them. Except one, And he is a pain in the butt. He pulled me over when i was driving my 1981 datsun 210, Because when i hit a bump my headlights kinda flickered (because of the old wiring in the car). But the never turned off. Another time he fallowed me from one side of town to the other. So i just pulled over and got my stuff ready, And he he got all mad cause i just pulled over. I told him i didnt like the way he was profiling me and i havent really had a problem since. But i havent ran into him yet.
