Now I have had some serious problems with the motor so in two weeks when I get back from my vaca I am going to rebuild it. It has the 22RE 4-cylinder and I really want to turbo it so I will be replacing the pistons with the 22RET pistons and drilling and tapping oil feeds. It needs a new head and I will be getting some oversized valves depending on the costs of putting a 5 degree grind on it. I will be upgrading to a hotter cam than stock and going to a double chain timing sprocket. Once this is done I am going to break in the motor for a while untill I decide my turbo setup. The turbo will be a Garrett and I will be pushing < 10psi. Tunage will come from piggy backing a MS unit to control fuel. It is a distributor setup so a adjustable cam gear is probably needed. Looking for 180 to 200 whp on pump gas. Doesn't sound like a lot but pushing those 33" tires at 90whp sucks. Comments and suggestions welcome...

94 Toyota pickup project log
Hey everyone I decided to make a project log for my truck, but I didn't want to clutter up our project log sections with a non dsmrelated project. Thats why I will post here... in the pits... where anything goes! So here is the story, I am getting a promotion! It means more money and a company car. My wife is going to drive my car while I build the hell out of this truck. So first of all here it is...

Re: 94 Toyota pickup project log
Oh man I would love to but I have to keep the 4x4 option and there are some solutions but not any I want to get into. I kinda wish is was the v6 cause a newer v6 swap would be easy. After a long debate I'm thinking this is my favorite option. Plus it's another turbo and MS project!

I dont know how much of a pain this would be, but ive seen a yota with a nissan sr24det, it was down in va at a drop and drag show, it looked like it was suppossed to be in the engine bay, but idk whats involved but it looked sweet in there....

Re: 94 Toyota pickup project log
Yeah I have seen a lot of swap options but not that one. With the space under the hood and my lift kit the options for the swap are practically unlimited if I wanted in to be rwd only. Problem I'm running into is there are not many options out there if I want to keep the 4x4... There is a small block 350 option but this would take a lot of down time and I'm hoping to only take 3 to 4 weeks on this... It's a lot of work/money for under 200whp but it will have to do until I have the means to but what I want in there. What I would like to do is a turbo diesel option that would be killer but that's years down the road...

4g63 sideways with gm 350 turbo tranny and a ford 9" rear. Bushur makes a kit that comes with an adapter plate so you can bolt up a gm tranny to it.

Re: 94 Toyota pickup project log
Well here I am back at the old drawing board again...
After thinking about the swap options you guys have talked about I have decided not to turbo... I have also decided not to swap HAHA. So here's the deal I am going to build it up best I can N/A with the 22re. It's my wives truck and she wont let me do what I really want to it. So just doing a good rebuild and if she ever decides to give up the truck I will probably do the 3z swap or the small block 350. Anywho I will keep you guys updated and I will probably tear into her this weekend.
