    Idle problem. Empty Idle problem.

Like my topic says, my car shuts off when at idle. This only happens when it is wamred up after driving about 15 min. It bogs down to about 500 rpm then either catches itself and saves it by going to about 1100 rpms or it just dies. Ive had this problem a few weeks now and decided to actually get it fixed. The car doesn't overheat so I know its not that. What else could it be. Oh and also during a cold startup the idle goes to about 1800 rpm and down to 1200 rpm and keeps doing this about 25 times before it idles fine. I don't know if that is part of the problem or not, but just thought I would mention it.
    Thanks again everyone!

Similar issue to what I was having. Try looking for vacuum leaks. Usually you can hear a hissing sound. If not then use carb cleaner or starting fluid and spray all your vacuum hoses and listen for a change in idle. Also spray around the throttle body and intake manifold because they are notorious for leaking gaskets. Try not to do it when your motor is hot because Ether is flammable and could ignite on your exhaust manifold. Make sure you have good plugs and wires. Do a boost leak test. Could also be an 02 sensor as well. Idle problems are common and theres a number of things big and small that can cause it. Real hard to pinpoint the cause but these are some suggestions to try and help. Good luck with it man let us know how you make out.

remember one thing, carb cleaner will take out your O2 sensors... I have a suggestion about the Idle problem, have you checked into your Idle speed control or your throttle position sensor.. on the side of your throttle body if you have one. Another Idea could be checking your PCV valve. I know this sounds like a bad suggestion BUT if the PCV valve is stuck open it will act as a vacuum leak, just like if you have a leak on your intake manifold your car will idle high when cold, or idle high all the time.. good luck man!!

Good thing you said something about the PCV valve causing high idle when the motor is cold, my car idles at 3k till it warms up then its normal. Im gonna check that tomorrow.

Boost leak test first. Most likely it is a vacuum line or a gasket leaking.

Remove your throttle body, clean it out very good with carb cleaner. Just a good cleaning of a throttle body has fixed my high idle/idle surge problems in the past.

Your BISS screw could be leaking as well.

I also suggest a boost leak test. Also look at your ISC motor and test to make sure its actually functioning...
